NOT ALL DESCENDANTS OF LOUIS XIV...

I would never have imagined, when I started this subject, to make a gallery of portraits of veneurs outside the forests.
Yes, but here it is... Every time I tried to explain or transmit the experience I had just lived in the world of hunting with hounds, and before I could even open my mouth, people objected that the veneurs were rich bourgeois who had nothing better to do than to pursue a poor defenseless animal. It was at this point that I came up with the rather bizarre idea of exiling the veneur from his forests in order to transpose him to his place of work, dressed in his hunting clothes; this gallery of portraits thus makes it possible to demonstrate and to make understand, in a pragmatic way, the social diversity within each crew and within hunting itself.
